12 of our juniors paid a visit to the Open on Tuesday as part of the Road to the Open Project sponsored by the R&A, Scottish Golf and Sky Sports They had a great time playing golf games and Tri – Golf at the the Swing Zone and the chipping challenge as well seeing the world’s best golfers on the driving range and putting greens. Their visit also included time with Open Champion at Carnoustie in 1999, Paul Lawrie and European tour player Matt Wallace. Matt was fantastic in his encouragement of young players. Our juniors got to play Tri-Golf with Matt and he then patiently signed autographs for lots of kids. We hope Matt inspired our junior golfers.
Thanks to Andy McLaren, Duncan Greig, Laura Nicoll and Elle Hamilton’s Gran for looking after them and taking them to the Open. I took a few pictures and some are included here. The full album is available on our Grange Golf Club Facebook page.
The juniors all received HSBC Roots T shirts at the swing zone and golf balls for holing out at the putting challenge.
