Wanted – Parent/guardian/family member and a junior.
Due to the success of our organisation of the final after school event in connection with the Road to the Open project involving 120 juniors from Angus and Dundee, Scottish Golf have given us first choice opportunity to host the HSBC Family Fun Challenge on the Saturday of the Open on 21st July from 10am -11am. Whereas the Road to the Open was getting children into golf, this project is aimed at getting families into golf.
The challenge is for a parent/guardian/family member and a junior to pitch as many golf balls from 10 metres into circle 3 metres in diameter in 60 seconds. All juniors will receive a T Shirt.
The challenge will be held on ground in front of the golf clubs and we hope as many juniors and families, irrespective of taking part, will come down and watch the action.
The IMG group who will be filming the event are particularly interested to see younger children involved. The age group is 5 years to 14 years.
HSBC who support the Golf foundation will be sending two Ambassadors to the event. I am advised that these will be Tim Henman and Brian 0’Driscoll.
This should be a good opportunity to promote the club and Monifieth Links from the resulting press and publications from the event as well as getting selfies with the Ambassadors.
