- Thursday evening coaching continues at the practice ground at the east end of Monifieth from 6pm – 7.30pm.
- We have between 40 and 50 children regularly attending these sessions.
- We require more volunteers to help support the coaches and allow the juniors to progress and improve their skills, eventually in gaining a handicap in order to play in competitions.
- Knowledge of basic skills, eg., setup, grip, aim, posture and swing is all that is required for most of the beginners.
- If you can spare some time on Thursday evenings to assist and improve our programme for Juniors, please email either Ron at firstname.lastname@example.org or Andy at email@example.com.
- Saturday Ballots continue on Ashludie from 2.30 pm. Meet at the Ashludie box at 2.15pm, Beginners can play 7 holes from the black tees, improvers can play 9 holes from the white or red tees.
There was organised golf last Thursday at the practice ground and thanks go to Andy Mclaren who organised this session ably assisted by Marion Latto, Helen Munro and Gordon Mcleod along with some of the parents who were seconded to assist on the day. Forty plus juniors attended so numbers are excellent at this stage of the season, hopefully we can maintain this high participation level throughout the season. Last Saturday Ron Macdonald and Andy McLaren took out 3 juniors in poor conditions for practice on the Ashludie course. Any member who wishes to assist with juniors, please contact Ron Macdonald at firstname.lastname@example.org or Andy McLaren at email@example.com
The Junior Putting training took place on Thursday 20th April in Grange Golf Club when 41 kids attended the first session. A big thank you goes to Andy McLaren and his worthy team of helpers who were also ably assisted by by some of the parents on the evening. On a more serious note, if there are any Grange club members who have spare time, their assistance with the juniors would be greatly appreciated. Andy and his team put in an inordinate amount of time with the kids who in the long term are the lifeblood of the club. Getting more help would allow the kids to get more individual training which in turn will hopefully enhance their golf game. If you do have some spare time, Andy can be contacted at the club or at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Thursday evening coaching sessions for the season start this Thursday 20th. This week we will meet at the Club for putting drills and tuition. You just need to bring your putters this week. Subsequent weeks coaching will be held at the practice ground at the east end of Monifieth. All sessions are from 6pm – 7.30pm (weather permitting). It is still a bit chilly just now, so please remember to wear suitable warm clothing.
Most Saturday afternoons, we have tee times on the Ashludie Course from 2.30pm. Beginners can play 7 holes from the black tees while more advanced can play 7, 13 or 18 holes from the white or red tees. If you are going to play regularly on a Saturday, you need to buy a Links ticket for £20 which allows you play the course at any time until March 2018. Playing on the course on Saturdays will allow you to take a scorecard with you and we can monitor your progress through the year, gradually building up to obtaining an official handicap.
The Grange Golf Club takes Child Protection very seriously and 90% of our coaches and volunteers have PVG clearance with the remainder having recently applied for clearance. Eleven of our coaches and volunteers recently attended the Safeguarding and Protection Children in Sport course which is now mandatory for those working with children.
As part of our child protection guidelines, we have code of conduct forms for parents, children and coaches and volunteers. We will be emailing these out later today to all the juniors. It is important that if the junior is attending coaching the parent/ carer and child read these and maintain a copy and bring signed copies with you on Thursday. These will be held by our Child Protection Officer in our register.

Saturdays on Ashludie Course
The Links have drastically reduced their annual fees for juniors to play on the Ashludie Course this year to £20 for 15 years and younger and to £60 for 16/17 year olds. This initiative is to encourage more juniors to get involved and play the course, to polish up their skills, improve their game and work towards obtaining an official handicap. If you intend to take advantage of our Saturday afternoon sessions throughout the year, we would expect you to take out a Links Ticket. This ticket gives you access to the course at any time from 1st April to 31st March 2018. Groups of you for example can get together and play during the school holidays or evenings. Once you have your club membership, go to the Links Starters box and pay your £20. An email address is important so you can book your ballot time online. However, always remember your etiquette on the course and always try keep up with the group in front.
